Ghana Ministry Group

The Mission

To be a vehicle of hope for refugees by providing both spiritual and economic resources in the name of Jesus Christ.

Since 2001, Webster United Church of Christ has provided assistance to the people in the Krisan/Sanzule Refugee camp in Ghana, West Africa.   This assistance has been in the form of yearly visits to camp, scholarships for young people in the camp, food programs, funding of work projects, supply of medical assistance and supplies, and assistance to relocated refugees in the local, Southwest Michigan, area.

Fund raising for water wells in Ghana over the past year has resulted in the installation of 11 wells and 1 water system serving over 100,000 people who previously had no clean water to drink. We work in a "sister relationship" with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ghana providing scholarship funds for seminary students, a leprosarium, and a street children's program.   They, in turn, have been gracious hosts for our annual trips.

The Steering Committee for this outreach program meets once a month to coordinate these efforts and to plan and execute fund raising activities to continue the programs.   This committee is comprised of church members and friends and is open to anyone with an interest in this ministry.
