A Thrift Shop

The Ann Arbor Thrift Shop has been serving the local community
continuously since its founding in 1932.
An officially designated non-profit group, its purpose always has been
to raise money for local charities through the sale of donated
merchandise. Every year the Thrift
Shop gives over $100,000 in grants to social service agencies and emergency
aid to local individuals. In August of 2003 the Thrift Shop
moved from Broadway Street in Lower Town, where it had operated for 23 years,
to a new, more visible location on
Washtenaw Avenue across from Arborland. The Thrift Shop is
run entirely by its 290 volunteer members who staff and maintain the shop and
do all the sorting, pricing, marking, and merchandising of donated goods. 2007 marks the
75th anniversary of the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop, and we invite you to help us
celebrate. Visit our
75th
Anniversary page for special sales and
thank-you events for our customers, donors, social service partners and
volunteers. |
