Parking Plenty of free parking is available.
Holdings With over 1,100 books, this library specializes in Washtenaw County sources such as local history, land records, cemetery readings, family histories, Bible records, the microfiche index of Washtenaw County probates, how to and guide books, bibliographies, and periodicals. The library maintains a surname file of Washtenaw County residents, an index to research correspondence, and a collection of Bible records (not limited to Michigan).

Some of the materials relating to Washtenaw County are listed in the bibliography followed by [GSWC].

Bibliography of Handy Genealogical References... and where to find them in local repositories lists some materials available at the library with call numbers.

The latest version of the Ancestral File here at the Family History Center has 29 million names, up from 15 million in the previous version.

Circulation Area Non-circulating

Restrictions All materials are for reference only (to use on site) and do not circulate. Computers are available in half hour increments; please log your time in the notebook near the computer. A one-hour time limit may be imposed on the use of microfilm readers and computers if others are waiting. Food and beverages are not allowed. All library materials are self-serve except ordered microfilms which must be retrieved for you by the librarian.

Proceeds are used to purchase more books for the library.
Copying Copying of printed materials is not available or permitted. Patrons can place an order for copies of non-fragile materials to be sent to their home or picked up later. A microfilm/microfiche reader-printer is available for use at $.10 per copy.
