Directions From I-94 on the South, take Exit 159, turning north onto M-52 (Main Street). Go 1.4 miles into town. The library is the large brick building on the hill to the right between Orchard and South Streets.

Parking Free parking is available along Main Street and in a small lot just past the library.

Holdings Note: The local history room has been closed temporarily until a volunteer can be found to staff it. Please call ahead to check on accessibility.

Chelsea history in books, manuscripts, photographs, microfilm. Washtenaw County history collection. Newspapers and newspaper clippings, bound and on microfilm, including the Chelsea Standard/Herald from 1890s. Card index of obituaries and cemetery burials. Chelsea High School yearbooks since 1922. Local records include the Chelsea Hotel register, 1915-1922, Chelsea Village records, 1870-1882 and 1908-1917, GAR post records, 1882-1912, voter registration lists, 1874-1929. The local history room is maintained by the Chelsea Area Historical Society: McKune librarians will not do research; contact the Society.

Restrictions Fill out a visitor's registration form and leave your driver's license at the front desk to get the key to the local history room on the second floor. The historical collection is non-circulating. Librarians will not respond to research requests in the local history room; contact the Chelsea Area Historical Society instead.

Copying Self-service copying may be done for $.10 per copy on the main floor; the copier will take dollar bills. Items in the local history room may be copied by bringing them to the copier downstairs. Microfilm reader-printer copies cost $.10 per page, payable at the desk upon leaving.
