Online Catalog MIRLYN http://www.lib.umich.edu/mirlyn/
The online catalog includes the Bentley's manuscript holdings and most books, but no newspapers. Searches can be limited to the Bentley using SET CAT BENT command. (Please contact the library for assistance.)

Hours 8:30am-5pm Monday-Friday (no paging from 11:45am to 1pm)
9am-12:30pm Saturdays from Labor Day in September through April only; closed Saturdays before major holidays and during Christmas break

For six weeks in March and April, the library is also open on Wednesday evenings, 6pm-9pm.


Directions From US-23 to the East, take Exit 41, turning west onto Plymouth Road. Continue past Green Road, turning left onto Huron Parkway. Follow this past Hubbard, turning right onto Glazier Way. Take the next right onto Beal Ave. into the University of Michigan North Campus area. The library will be the second building on the right between Glazier and Bonisteel, next to the Gerald R. Ford Library.

Holdings Local history (especially Ann Arbor), family genealogies, Michigan newspapers, city directories. Federal census of Washtenaw County, state census, census indexes. (See city directories, population census, census indexes, Washtenaw County, University of Michigan.) Cemetery, church, land, military, and organizational records. Original papers, manuscripts, diaries, documents relating to Michigan history. Atlases (with plat maps) and county histories for all Michigan counties. Loomis Michigan Biographical Index. Michigan Civil War soldiers and sailors. Official University of Michigan archives and genealogy. Dolph Funeral Home Records for 1930-1950, mainly covering University of Michigan staff members, including biographical information, costs, and many details. Records of the Presbyterian and Protestant Episcopal churches. Quarterly exhibits.(Share your project with the reference librarian who will direct you to needed materials.)

Circulation Area Non-circulating

Restrictions Closed stacks. The library has two microfilm readers and one reader/copier. The two readers may not be available for public use if they have been reserved for other purposes.

Queries can be sent to the library by mail or email; up to one hour of research will be provided by library staff.

Copying Copying is done for you at a cost of $.20 per page. If copies are mailed to you, there is an extra charge for postage plus $1.00 handling fee. If your request is made by mail or phone, there is an additional $5.00 preparation fee. Copies must be prepaid, and requestors must sign the copyright statement on the photocopy order form. Items which may not be copied include fragile and oversize items (larger than legal size), county histories, and Ann Arbor city directories.
