Down the Myrtle Path: the History and Memories of Town Hall School, Hannah Geddes Wright.
In this book, compiled and written by a former student of Town Hall School, the history of this one-room country school is traced from its founding in 1852 on the William Geddes farm in Pittsfield Township (on Morgan Road off Platt) until the present day, when it graces the campus of Eastern Michigan University. Restored and partially refurbished, Town Hall School is once again being used as an instructional edifice, as well as a meeting place for social functions, just as it was in the past. Read the bittersweet saga of Town Hall School - its history and the sweet memories of former students and teachers, the sad ending of an era in 1957, followed by the beginning of another in 1987 when Town Hall School was donated by the Geddes family to Eastern Michigan University to be restored as a living museum (where children can attend class and relive the one-room school experience). Read about and see pictures of the dramatic move of the old school. Available from the author for $12.00 plus $2.00 shipping and handling to Hannah Geddes Wright, 4209 N. Dearing Rd., Parma, MI 49269.
