Lunar New Year 2008 - Year of the Rat |
|
FCC is holding a group dinner at Washtenaw Community College Sunday, Feb. 10, from 2:00-4:00, in the Morris Lawrence Building. For details please contact our Membership Secretary, Becky Blackburn, at 734 446 5859. Her email is: b n t 1 1 8 5 1 *at* gmail & dot*( com (remove the punctuation between the 'b' and the 't').
The United States Postal Service is offering a number of Lunar New Year items. Some you can buy at local branches, while others seem to be available only through their online store. Items include a commemorative sheet for the Year of the Rat, a calendar, some first-day covers for philatelists, etc.: see www.usps.com.
The Ann Arbor Observer reports that the Korean School of Ann Arbor will offer a Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Tappan Middle School. There will be student presentations, Korean cultural activities, and samples of food. The Korean School's webpage has a few more details.
Many local activities and opportunities related to Chinese culture, history, and language can be found by using the Observer's site search, year-round.
Also on Jan. 26,
the Ann Arbor Chinese Center of Michigan
is holding an all-day party with many activities. The event will be in the
Morris Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College.
We have an active members-only email list, at A3FC2@yahoogroups.com. Visit Yahoogroups.com to request a subscription. In warmer months we often have potlucks at parks around Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, and sometimes we have play-dates for the slightly older kids. Our annual dues are $25 per family.
If you're interested in joining us or for details about other activities, please contact our Membership Secretary, Becky Blackburn, at 734 446 5859. Her email is b n t 1 1 8 5 1 *at* gmail & dot*( com (remove the punctuation between the 'b' and the 't' to unscramble).
These next entries contain some personal email addresses, which we've altered as an anti-spam measure. Remove the brackets and so on, and spell 'dot' correctly, and you're all set. The chief source of this information is the national FCC site.
Members of our group have used these
agencies with good results, but you should take care to find an agency whose
policies and views are similar to your own.

Some of us have used just one agency -- the one inside Michigan -- for both parts of the adoption paperwork. Others of us have used one agency inside Michigan and and an additional agency elsewhere in the US that has better China connections. Agencies listed below have been used with happy results by one or more of the families in our group.
