The Southeast Michigan Chapter of the Fulbright Association cordially invites all Fulbrighters and their spouses and friends to our annual summer picnic on Saturday, July 24th at 2:00 PM at the home of Wafa and Maher Mualla in Adrian, Michigan (554 Trenton Road). Middle Eastern food and drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring a favorite dish to share (not required). Please RSVP to Maher Mualla by Friday, July 16th and let us know the number of people in your group. If you need a ride to the picnic from Ann Arbor or Detroit, let me know ASAP to try to arrange one for you. Fulbrighters from East Lansing should also contact Mr. Rahman Saleem.

 

 

The Fulbright welcome reception will be held at the UM Rackham Graduate School on Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 from 4-6 PM.

Arab-American Afternoon in Dearborn, Michigan Saturday, February 20, 2010

The trip will include visits to the:

§ Islamic Center of America

§ Arab-American National Museum

§ Dinner at the Al-Ameer Lebanese restaurant

§ If time permits, the trip will also include stops at an Arab-American food store and a sweets shop.

The bus from Ann Arbor will depart at 12:00 Noon from the Rackham Graduate School building (915 E. Washington Street between Fletcher and State Streets) for the one-hour trip to Dearborn. We will return to Ann Arbor about 8 PM.

Detroit and East Lansing Fulbrighters should arrange to be at the Islamic Center (19500 Ford Road, in Dearborn) at 1:00 PM.

The cost of the trip is free for Fulbright grant recipients and $20/person for Family, friends, and Fulbright alumni (museum admission & dinner).

Please RSVP to Maher Mualla by Friday, February 12th and let us know the number of people in your group. East Lansing Fulbrighters should also contact Rahman Saleem by February 11th, to arrange for transportation to Dearborn.

Note: The Islamic Center includes a new and beautiful Mosque, the largest in the U.S. The Imam of the Islamic Center has requested that visitors to the Mosque be dressed in a business manner, and that female visitors should wear a scarf to cover their hair. We will have some scarves available for our Fulbright visitors.
