2014 Passion Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Services

The Sunday of the Passion or Palm Sunday begins the last week of Lent, known as Holy Week. During this holiest time of the church year, the worship services relive the final week of our Lord's human life. Holy Week includes Maundy Thursday, when Christians observe Christ's "Last Supper" -- the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion -- and the mandate to serve one another in love. Good Friday commemorates the betrayal, arrest, trial and death by crucifixion of Jesus. Emmanuel marks this church festival day with a Tenebrae service. While Gospel readings are read and hymns are sung, the lights in the sanctuary are gradually extinguished until the sanctuary is completely dark.

SUNDAY OF THE PASSION (Palm Sunday)
April 13, 2014 -- 8:15am and 10:45am
Holy Communion distributed at both services
Child care available at 10:45 worship service and educational hour.

MAUNDY THURSDAY (April 17)
Evening Service -- 7:00pm
Holy Communion will be distributed
No Child care available
Stripping of Altar at close of service

GOOD FRIDAY (April 18)
Worship Service -- 12:00 noon
No Holy Communion
A soup and salad luncheon will take place immediately after the service. If you are interested in helping with this luncheon please contact Pastor Hendricks or the church office.

Tenebrae Service -- 7:00pm
No Holy Communion
No Child care

EASTER SUNDAY
April 20, 2014-- 8:15am and 10:45am
Holy Communion distributed at both services
Child care available at 10:45 worship service and educational hour.
