Confirmation

Confirmation (also known as Affirmation of Baptism) is the continuation of a young person's spiritual growth within the Church of Christ. At baptism, the child is brought into the faith life of the congregation by parents, godparents or sponsors. By attending Sunday School and participating in the confirmation program, the child learns the basic tenets of the Christian Faith. At Confirmation, the child reaffirms for themselves the promise made by the parents at Baptism.

Emmanuel offers a two-year program that at present incorporates 7th and 8th grades together. Students are instructed in biblical knowledge, and Lutheran faith and doctrine.

All students are expected to be regular in attendance at worship, in Sunday School (Catechism class), and to submit sermon notes. In addition, they participate in church and community service through such activities as worship assistance, Christmas caroling to seniors, child care, etc. Students are allowed flexibility in meeting the expectations of the program leading up to their confirmation.

“Teacher, all these things I have observed from my youth.”
