The museum receives the generous support of the Dexter Area Historical Society and the Heritage Guild. Members of the DAHS help staff and maintain the museum. Also, each March the DAHS sponsors the Pioneer Craft Fair, a major fund raising event for the museum.
The museum also enjoys the support of the Dexter Heritage Guild. The DHG sponsors a Christmas Bazaar and the semiannual Antique Appraisal Clinic featuring Mr. Joseph DuMouchelle. Both events are important fund raisers for the museum.

Pioneer Arts Fair

Visit the 35th annual Dexter Pioneer Arts Fair on Saturday March 15, 2008, from 10am to 4pm at Creekside Intermediate School, 2615 Baker Rd. in Dexter.See art in action! Watch as over 50 artisans demonstrate their techniques and sell their work. Many of our favorite artists will be back, along with some new faces, new arts, and new items for sale.We will welcome weavers, spinners, a paper quiller, a doll maker, lace makers, leather works, wood carvers, felters and water color artists to name just a few. Several jewelers and our stained glass artist will also return, as will our popular silhouette booth.Bring the kids! There will be a craft table for children and a storyteller. There will also be live music.The Garden Club will offer lunch and refreshments. Please join us!

Dexter Area Historical Society Meetings

The Dexter Area Historical Society normaly meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM in the Museum. There will be no January Board meeting. The next meeting will be the Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 10 at 2pm

Welcome to the DAHSM website!

Located in the Village of Dexter, Michigan, the Dexter Area Historical Museum serves as western Washtenaw County's link with history. The museum is housed in the former St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, built in 1883. The building was moved one block to the corner of Inverness and Fourth streets, to allow the construction of the current St. Andrew's. The museum contains a large display area, a genealogical library, a local history library, and the Corner Gift Shop.
