Dapogny's Chicagoans |
![]() |
James Dapogny’s Chicagoans bring authentic and fresh performance to the music of jazz and big band greats Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman. Jazz trios of clarinet, piano and drums date back to the 1920s, first recorded by Jelly Roll Morton in 1927. The Chicagoans, performing together since 1958 with clarinetist Kim Cusack, drummer Wayne Jones, drummer and pianist James Dapogny present some of the most richly melodic jazz ever heard, exploring the history of the great American jazz tradition with its range of expressions from hope, longing, and loneliness to exuberance, playfulness and creativity.
