Brass aficionados will revel in this exciting concert featuring two original works for brass quintet: Victor Ewald’s Quintet No. 3 and Morley Calvert’s Suite from the Monteregian Hills. The quintet also performs arrangements of music by Debussy and Dukas as well as rags and popular music by Farnaby, Krell, and Waller. The quintet includes David Kuehn and David Amer on trumpet, Denise Root-Pierce on French horn, trombonist Donald Babcock, and Michael Grant, tuba. The Michigan Chamber Brass draws its players from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Chamber Winds, Michigan Opera Theater, and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Since its inception in 1996, this brilliant ensemble has brought a new awareness of symphonic brass music, ranging from classical and baroque to pop and jazz to audiences throughout southeastern Michigan. Co-Sponsored by the law firm of Butzel Long and Chelsea Milling Co. |
