Our Community and Mission Activities

Our Church seeks to reach out to the wider community and the world.  Taking part in the community activities such as the forum on Islam, the Martin Luther King Day observance, and those listed below are an important part of being involved and engaged.

Mission Trip
Beginning in 2005, our church has sent a group to Neon, KY to work with this interfaith nonprofit, helping with rehabilitation of substandard housing, erosion control, and new construction.  New for 2009, our trip will be to New Orleans to work on the ongoing restoration and building of housing in this still-struggling area.  The UCC has had groups working in New Orleans since Katrina struck, and now we have a chance to contribute!

Faith In Action
Ongoing support year-round for this important community agency includes donating needed pantry items and, at Christmas, adopting a family for special holiday gifts.

Adopted Child
Through Christian Children's Fund, we support an adopted child in Guatemala.  The child's family also benefits from this support.  We post the charming pictures and letters from our "foster child" in the fellowship room.
