Students are welcome at daily, festival, and Sabbath Services

Religious services are at the heart of congregational life. Sabbath services are held throughout the year Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Friday evening services are generally held at 6:00 p.m. We occasionally sponsor Friday evening family Shabbat dinners, planned and prepared by volunteers. In all our services, congregants are active participants. Every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, from 10:00 - 12:15 Pardes Hannah offers an alternative service with meditation, niggunim and mystical exploration.

Daily Minyan

Daily minyan is held Sunday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. October through March.) in the downstairs chapel, accessible from the Austin Street entrance.

The service lasts approximately 15 minutes. It is an egalitarian Conservative service. Adult Beth Israel members, families, guests, and post-bar-mitzvah and post-bat-mitzvah students are especially welcome.

The daily minyan is an opportunity for Jews to fulfill the mitzvah of daily prayer. It also provides a traditional setting for the Mourner's Kaddish to be recited by those of us who are mourning a recent death in the family or observing a yahrzeit. By Jewish law, a complete service -- including Kaddish -- can only be done in the presence of a minyan, a minimum of 10 adult Jews. So those in our community who are in need of our support in times of loss depend on the rest of us to provide a minyan for them. And it's a sad fact that we all face such losses at some point in our lives.

Daily Minyan is an important service that Beth Israel offers to the Ann Arbor Jewish community. Please help to make it happen through your attendance. Thanks.
